What's
"The Jungle Book" About???
Our
story begins when Father Wolf goes out one evening to
hunt
for his family. He finds a human baby, lost by its mother.
He decides to keep it. and raise it with her own cubs.
Shere Khan, the tiger who hunts man, tries to claim
the mancub. But with the help of Baloo the bear and
Bagheera the panther, the wolves’ council is won
over. Mowgli is accepted into the wolfpack.
Mowgli grows up with Baloo and Bagheera as his teachers.
From them, he learns the laws of the jungle. One day,
after a lesson with Baloo, he meets the Bandar-Log,
the monkeys, who tease him until he chases them off.
Meanwhile, Shere Khan trys to convince the wolves to
accept him as their leader. He warns them not to trust
Mowgli.
Bagheera warns Mowgli about Shere Khan, and also about
the monkeys. They do not abide by the laws of the jungle
and are therefore outcasts. The monkeys appear, but
Mowgli uses fire, “the red flower,” to chase
them off. Bagheera, who is also afraid of fire, now
teaches Mowgli another lesson: Mowgli is a man, and
will never belong in the jungle because he is different
from the animals. One day even his brothers, the wolves
may turn against him.
Bagheera leaves, but the monkeys return and kidnap Mowgli,
taking him to the Monkey City. When Bagheera and Baloo
realize where Mowgli has been taken, they hurry to find
Kaa, the Python: she is the only animal in the jungle
whom the monkeys fear. Together they find Mowgli, and
with the help of Kaa’s hypnotic poweres they all
escape.
Then they return to the wolves’ council they find
that Shere Khan has turned the wolves against Mowgli
and his family. With the help of the “red flower,”
Mowfli manages to defend his family and beat Shere Khan.
But as the battlends, it becomes clear that Mowgli no
longer belongs in the jungle. He will return to his
own world, the world of the humans.
