Puppets on display in the Lobby:
A sampling of hand puppets created by Bernard and Edith Paul of “Paul’s Puppets.” We are showing the Duchess and Cook from Alice in Wonderland and Peter and Farmer McGregor from The Tale of Peter Rabbit.
There is an array of marionettes ( string puppets ) from the title, Granny Gurton’s Needle, made by The Summer Puppet Caravan for Appalachia of Berea, Kentucky. The display consists of Granny, a Chicken, a Lad with Flower, and a Boy with Harmonica.
Also on view is a smorgasbord of summer themed magical puppets from the Puppet Co.’s collection including King Midas by Bil Baird; a Show Girl by Jim Rowland; a Sailor Girl and Lion by Alfred and Jenia Miller; a Cowboy by Lesellie Marionettes; and the American Revolutionary, James Otis, by Rufus and Margo Rose.
Finally, we are featuring an Evil Magician from Aladdin by Sky Highchief; a Sword Swallower from a variety show by DoLores Hadley; and Gwenevere from the variety show, Camelot, by Douglas Seymour. All puppets are from the Puppet Co. Collection.
On exhibit in the Library Windows:
A fall-themed display of rod puppets from The Magic Mirror. You will see Nanya, Mudrick, and Bird surrounded by colorful autumn leaves, a pumpkin, and yellow mums. These fanciful puppets were built by puppetmasters Allan Stevens and Christopher Piper in 1983.
