Is the Puppet Co accessible by public transportation?

Yes! You can take the #29 bus from the Friendship Heights Metro Station or Bethesda Metro Station. Check wmata.com to plan your visit.

What are your hours?

Typically, TPC is closed Monday and Tuesday. The Box Office and lobby are open Wednesday-Sunday 9:30am-3:30pm. We can be reached by email at box.office@thepuppetco.org or by calling our box office at (301) 634-5380.

What is the difference between Main Stage and Tiny Tots?

The Main Stage programming is best suited for children ages 4 or 5 and up. The theatre is dark and there is more dialogue. Each performance is around 45-55 minutes with no intermission. Tiny Tots performances are designed for children under 4 or children 4-6 who have never been to a puppet show before, and might be a little scared. The theatre lights remain on and the back doors remain open. Each performance is around 30 minutes in length. Both Main Stage and Tiny Tots shows are also shown live on screens in our lobby if any friends need to take a break.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you cannot come to the show you bought tickets for, your tickets will be put on an exchange list, and you will have one year from the show date to use those tickets.

If we need to cancel a show, we will send out an email to ticket holders who will be put on the exchange list.

Note: if we have no pre-sold tickets sold 24-hours before the performance, we will cancel.

Is the playhouse wheelchair accessible?

Yes! We encourage you to arrange pre-seating with us. Please call (301) 634-5380.

Is food allowed in the theatre?

Starting March 2, 2023 food is allowed in the theatre, as long as it is dry and will not get stuck in the carpet. (Leave those raisins and gummies in your bag, please.) Bigger snacks are okay to eat in the lobby. Inside the theatre, water and any drink in an spill-proof container (sippy cup, etc.) is permitted.

Who makes the puppets, costumes, scenery?

In our Mainstage Legacy Series, we did! Everything you see on stage was produced by the Puppet Co. founders and their collaborators. We made the puppets, wrote the scripts, and designed and made the costumes and set pieces.

In the Mainstage Premiere Series, it depends! We create most of the puppets, sets, lighting, and sound, and often work with industry professionals to design costumes and specialty puppets. In our first 3 Premiere shows in 2021 and 2022, we wrote one script and worked with wonderful playwrights for the other two.

Does the Puppet Co. Playhouse do birthday rentals?

We offer parties with tickets to Mainstage or Tiny Tots shows, parties with a hands on workshop custom themed to your needs, and show tour parties to your home or other venue. Do you tour your shows?

Our Legacy productions of Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood and the 3 Little Pigs, and Peter and the Wolf are available to tour by request! We also offer residencies and collaborative opportunities for workshops and special events, so if your organization is interested, please email us at Box.Office@thepuppetco.org.

What are your COVID-19 safety plans?

We are constantly monitoring pandemic related news, statistics, relevant jurisdictional mandates, and theatre industry standards, and working to do everything we can to ensure a safe experience for all at the theatre.

These policies are in effect until further notice and are being reviewed monthly.

Beginning March 2nd, 2023, we are moving to a masks strongly encouraged policy. There is one week per production that will be designated as fully masked for those who prefer that environment. If you believe you've just purchased for a performance that is not meeting your masking needs, please call the Box Office to transfer to another date.
