Join our Board of Directors

The Puppet Co., founded in 1983 and under new management since 2020, is looking for new board members to join our team.

About the Puppet Co:

The Puppet Co. is a puppetry theater located in Glen Echo Park, Maryland. Our primary audience are children ages 2-12, and their families. We also have periodic shows and events for adults.

The Puppet Co has been a beloved children’s theatrical institution since it was founded in 1983. In 2020 the founding board collectively retired and the theater welcomed a new leadership team.

This is a time of growth and change for the Puppet Co. Following the Covid-19 pandemic, the theater is artistically vibrant and in the process of reintroducing ourselves to the larger DC, Maryland, Virginia community.

About the board of directors:

The Board of Directors for the Puppet Co. is a small, hands-on, working board. Board members volunteer on one or more committees, such as fundraising, marketing, or events. Please note that board members do not have a say in artistic theatrical decisions.

About our ideal candidates:

Ideal candidates for membership in the Puppet Co. Board are passionate about puppetry and children’s theater; good natured team players; and willing to play an active role in one or more committees.

We are also looking to specifically recruit residents of Montgomery County, Maryland; members of traditionally underrepresented demographics; and those with professional expertise in accounting, marketing, event planning, or law.

Financial obligations:

All Puppet Co. board members are expected to make annual financial contributions to the theater within their means, and to participate in achieving our goal of 100% board giving.

Membership on the Puppet Co. Board of Directors is an unpaid, volunteer position.
